Mindfulness & Wellbeing

We are so lucky to have a dedicated space for the children to take time out of the busy nursery day to practice mindfulness. Mindfulness teaches children to focus on the present, this can help them self-soothe and regulate their emotions, there are lots of ways to practice mindfulness, beyond breathing exercises. Being mindful can help children build self-awareness and self-esteem and this is why we believe it is important to incorporate this in our everyday practices as well as having our lovely sensory & Mindfulness rooms to take time out in. As part of promoting Mindfulness and wellbeing we also believe that our nursery pets support the children with this as its about tuning into our senses in the present moment, by paying attention to the touch of our pets fur etc… as well as giving them real life experiences of how to look after the animals. The children get to spend time with the nursery dog Lottie and also with our rabbits Biscuit & Smudge. The nursery pets promote a calming response within the children.
